The Town of Alberta, VA
The Town of Alberta was incorporated on September 4, 1928, and is 2.15 square miles. It is a town that reflects transportation. What is now U.S. Highway One used to be a well-travelled Native American trading path that turned into a pioneer wagon trail. At the turn of the century, train tracks were built enabling goods and raw materials to be produced and shipped to urban areas. Though the trains no longer run through town, we still maintain that railroad town hospitality.
Our Special Events Committee strive to have activities on the Second Saturdays of the month from March to September. The end of October they plan the Kids Spooktacular and Spooky Trail. The Second Saturday in December is our Christmas Parade (3:00pm) and Winter Wonderland (2:00pm-6:00pm) with 30+ vendors.
The Walk and Talk Group get together on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:00am to walk the Tobacco Heritage Trail. In the course of the year, many of the participants have reported losing weight, breathing better and feeling better! There’s always room for more walkers. Walk at your own pace, but never alone! We are better together!
